Monterey Peninsula Country Club (MPCC) is a private, member-owned club in Pebble Beach California, best known for its two championship golf courses. The MPCC Shore Course is one of the premier golf courses played in the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, an event on the PGA Tour. In addition to the two courses, members enjoy a clubhouse, beach house, and golf house with a pro shop, locker rooms, and health and fitness studio.
Abysmal Support Eliminated with the Help of Alvarez Technology Group
For years, MPCC used the Nortel Meridian phone system, but maintaining the system was becoming expensive, and replacement parts were hard to find. When Nortel announced that support for the phones was coming to an end, it became clear that it was time to move to a new system. After extensive research, MPCC settled on self-install Asterisk Voice over IP (VoIP) phones. The phones did not work properly with the club’s infrastructure, support was abysmal and could not help, and the system was never fully deployed.
At this point, MPCC came to Alvarez Technology Group for help. We sat down with the club to assess the need of the company and matched them up with the one system that seemed to fulfill all of the requirements, Avaya IP Office.
A Solution to Connect and Collaborate Without Limitations
Avaya IP Office is designed for small to midsized businesses and delivers enterprise level features. It connects seamlessly with smart phones, laptops, tablets, home phones, and office phones. Alvarez Technology Group was tasked with managing the entire project. Alvarez Technology Group configured and installed the Avaya IP Office system, bringing in Gsolutionz, an experienced authorized Avaya Business Partner from San Jose, to ensure a seamless implementation.
Over 60 users across 3 sites were migrated from Nortel to Avaya. Alvarez Technology Group and Gsolutions worked together to configure the VoIP system and install it on the network; Telepacific provided the connectivity. We configured individual greetings and auto attendant options for each location.
I will spend the rest of my days raving about the implementation process for the Avaya system. We were fortunate enough to have both ATG and Gsolutionz getting us up and running and the support was stellar! The process had a few hiccups, but they were quickly attended to and I was given an amazing amount of instruction and the follow-up on all of my questions was nearly instantaneous. After the implementation, MPCC staff was trained on phone controls and options to introduce the features and function that were not available with the previous system. Now, new users are easy to add and require minimal training. In addition to improved functionality and scalability, support is outstanding.
The success of the project has since prompted Alvarez Technology Group to become an authorized Avaya Business Partner. We now support the Monterey Peninsula Country Club phone system.
